Kelly Schneider
Group Supervisor, Death Penalty Division
Kelly Schneider has been with the Office of
the Ohio Public Defender since becoming an attorney in 1997. She
began as an Assistant State Public Defender and is now a Group
Supervisor in the Death Penalty Division.
Schneider earned her Juris Doctor from The
Ohio State University. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in
Criminology and Criminal Justice from The Ohio State University,
graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Being Rule 20 certified by the Ohio
Supreme Court, Schneider has practiced before the Ohio Supreme
Court, various Ohio Court of Appeals and Common Pleas courts,
the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of
Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States District
Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
Schneider has published "Ohio’s Death
Penalty Statue: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" with co-author
Joseph E. Wilhelm in the Ohio State Law Journal, Death Penalty
Symposium issue (Vol. 63, No. 1, 2002). She has also lectured at
training seminars, including the Ohio Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyer’s Annual Death Penalty Seminar in Fall of 2003.
